Chhattisgarh contains 28% of India’s potential for diamonds. But currently, there are no large operating mines. There is some illegal excavation, such as in Mainpur. The Bastar district, close to Odisha, also has diamond sites. If new mines develop, Chhattisgarh may become a diamond-famous state.
