There is something about that word, the very sound of it either strikes terror or an utter sense of despondency. The feeling of impending doom begins on Saturday and intensifies slowly until the moment that you are face to face with it (possibly now)! Why is it that the world at large seems to hate Mondays? Is there no excitement to this day? If you too feel this way then maybe a wee bit of help is on its way.
Here are 8 simple things you can do to feel more positive on Mondays:
1. Do the Dance
Regular exercise is brilliant but even if you are unable to keep up with your gym appointments every day, make sure you get out and moving on Mondays. You could create a Monday morning dance routine for your favourite song and get grooving. The combination of workout, dance and happy music is sure to set the tone for the rest of the day.
2. Read a Bit
Stuck in traffic? If you aren’t driving this is the perfect time to catch up on some reading. If you can’t take your eyes off the road, listen to some good music or audio programs of your liking. Positive distractions on a Monday go a long way in keeping the mood upbeat.
3. Healthy Breakfast
Don’t skip your first meal of the day. Hungry and cranky is no way to be on a Monday. Eat your favourite fruit and a carry some healthy snacks for the day. Good food and good mood go hand-in-hand.
4. Stay Hydrated
Contrary to what Monday mornings are usually made up of; forgo the ‘n’ cups of caffeine. Instead, opt for fresh fruit juices and plenty of water. Indulge in maybe a cup or two of green tea.
5. Breathe Deeply
One would consider this impossible but it is almost as if breathing has taken a backseat in today’s world. Forget the worries and concentrate on your breath from time to time. Deep inhalations and exhalations can solve a good deal of problems!
Feeling positive starts from you; look into the mirror and smile at yourself. Go out into the world smiling and things will look up from there.
7. Dress Smart
What you decide to wear can also make you feel great about the day ahead. Dress smartly and open the week on a note of confidence and energy.
8. Go Green
Gift yourself an office plant if you don’t already have one. Put a vase on your table and place your favourite variety of flowers in it on a Monday. The little bit of green can help you feel happy through the entire week.
